According to the Iranian Scientific Society of Engineering and Waste Management, the Vice President and Head of the Environmental Protection Organization, at the unveiling ceremony of the poster for the event “Iran’s Child, Earth’s Champion” at the International Conference Center for Environmental Martyrs in Tehran, expressed his appreciation for this action by the Lahijan Municipality in the field of creating a culture in waste management and said: Mayors and village heads play an important and significant role in waste management and organization and culture building in this area, given the duties defined for them by the Ministry of Interior.
Ali Selajkeh added: We hope that the national event “Iranian Child, Earth Hero,” which was launched by the Lahijan City Administration and other related agencies with the aim of creating a culture of waste management and waste separation at source among students, will be implemented throughout the country.
The mayor of Lahijan also said on the sidelines of the ceremony: Lahijan Municipality, in cooperation with non-governmental organizations, the Department of Education and Environment, came up with an idea to create a culture of preserving the urban environment in the current academic year in Lahijan city, and succeeded in implementing a waste alarm and educating more than 9,000 elementary school students on the topic of waste.
Reza Zendedel added: The national event “Iranian Child, Hero of the Earth” will be held nationwide in elementary schools across the country in the coming academic year with the support of the Lahijan Municipality and the cooperation of the Environmental Protection Organization, the Network of Environmental and Natural Resources Organizations, and the Ministry of Education.
He added: The selected students of this event will be introduced at the closing ceremony hosted by the Lahijan Municipality in May 2025 to receive the “City Helper” and “Village Helper” certificates.
The mayor of Lahijan said: Zero waste lifestyle, waste separation from the environment, eliminating plastic from life, sewing cloth bags, making crafts with dry waste, innovative recycling ideas, waste reuse initiatives, producing compost from wet waste, cleaning the environment, helping clean-ups, and not consumerism are among the themes of this national event, which includes participants in the fields of photography, film, writing, research, painting, wall newspapers, crafts, and the free sector.
